There's nothing like coming home after a long day of work to a hot house with no electricity and a group of men that speak no English working away in your backyard cutting down your trees.
Some of the trees in our backyard run up against the power line, and about a month ago we came home to a note on our door and several trees in our backyard tagged with orange spraypaint. Basically, they were giving us fair warning that they were free to dismantle those trees whenever they made time whether or not we agreed to it.
A month came and went and to be honest, I had completely forgotten about it...until yesterday. Apparently, one of them cut the electric line when they were cutting trees, so not only did we come home to a house with no electricity, we had been without it for eight hours and counting.
Came home from church last night with the remains of their work: a huge pile of tree limbs sitting in our front yard.
Now, I can deal with the no electricity for 8+ hours, no A/C, and a stash of trees in the front yard. What I had a problem dealing with today was sitting down to a nice big bowl of cereal for breakfast, only to cover it with a nice surprise: nice chunks of milk curds. I nearly tossed my cookies.
I'm totally sending the electric company a bill for $1.86...they owe me some fresh milk. Ugh.
